Câu tường thuật – Câu trần thuật gián tiếp

1. Định nghĩa

	Câu trực tiếp (Direct Speech)	Câu tường thuật (Reported Speech)
Định nghĩa	– Câu trực tiếp (Direct Speech) là câu nhắc lại chính xác lời của ai đó. Chúng ta thường dùng dấu ngoặc kép (“ ”) để trích dẫn lời nói trực tiếp.	– Câu gián tiếp (Reported speech) là câu diễn đạt lại lời nói trực tiếp từ người khác.
Ví dụ	My uncle said: “I am buying an iPhone 14 tomorrow.”	My uncle said (that) he was buying an iPhone 14 the next day.

2. Cách chuyển từ câu trực tiếp sang câu tường thuật

Khi muốn chuyển một câu trần thuật trực tiếp sang câu trần thuật gián tiếp, chúng ta dùng động từ tường thuật “say / tell” để giới thiệu. Đồng thời, chúng ta áp dụng các quy tắc sau:

a. Thay đổi thì của động từ

Câu trực tiếp	Câu tường thuật
Hiện tại đơn “I like mathematics.”	→ Quá khứ đơn He said (that) he liked mathematics.
Hiện tại tiếp diễn “I am staying there for a few days.”	→ Quá khứ tiếp diễn She said (that) she was staying there for a few days.
Will “Man will travel to Mars.”	→ Would He said (that) man would travel to Mars.
Can “We can use the computer.”	→ Could They told us (that) they could use the computer.
May “We may live on the moon in the future.”	→ Might He said (that) we might live on the moon.

b. Đổi ngôi của đại từ nhân xưng, tính từ và đại từ sở hữu.

mine	→ his / hers
ours	→ theirs

c. Thay đổi các trạng từ chỉ thời gian, nơi chốn

tomorrow	→ the following day / the next day
this week	→ that week
next week	→ the following week / the week after
yesterday	→ the day before / the previous day
last month	→ the month before / the previous month
tonight	→ that night

Ví dụ:
He said to me, “I’m going to a robot exhibition in Japan with your sister next week.”
→ He told me (that) he was going to a robot exhibition in Japan with my sister the following week.
